16th Annual Symposium "Physics of Cancer"
taking place from September 22 - 24, 2025 at Leipzig University, Germany.
Despite the tremendous improvement of tools and treatments, cancer is still responsible for nearly one in six deaths worldwide and holds many mysteries. However, there is no longer any doubt that cancer is much more than a genetic mutation propelling by biochemistry. Instead, as a branch of mechanobiology, Physics of Cancer provides a supplementary view on oncology by recognising the importance of physical interactions on cancer progression. The multidisciplinary field has already led to novel methods for diagnostics and improved prognosis that are being used in a clinical setting, and holds the promise that a comprehensive, multiscale understanding of the pathological mechanical changes in a tumor may inspire new therapeutic interventions.
This year's Physics of Cancer Symposium is the 16th edition of a vibrant venue for biophysicists, bioengineers, oncologists and immunologists. Please join us to exchange, discuss and get inspired by the latest developments, with special emphasis on:
- solid tumors as active nematics
- molecular mechanobiology
- cancer metabolism
- the metastatic cascade
- the role of mechanics in cancer's immune escape.
